UPDATE ON CITY UTILITY BILLS
3/16/2023
The City of Ellsworth would like to first apologize for the confusion or frustration involved in the delay of February's utility bills. In an effort to improve the utility meter reading system, there have been unanticipated software issues which have prevented bills from being issued. The City has been diligently working to rectify the situation and anticipates bills to process through the postal service on Monday, March 20, 2023. Due to this extended delay, the Council has voted to make a few temporary adjustments in an effort to help ease this transition.
The next bill you receive will be for a 45-day billing cycle instead of the normal 30-day billing cycle. This bill will include billing dates 1/23/2023 thru 3/8/2023 and will not be due until Monday, April 10, 2023. The bill following this will be for a 15-day billing cycle instead instead of the normal 30-day cycle, the billing dates for this bill will be 3/9/2023 thru 3/23/2023 and will be issued on 3/31/2023 and be due on April 24, 2023, as normal.
The City understands this is a very complex situation, however, in hopes to get back to the 'normal' billing cycle as soon as possible, it is necessary to follow these steps and dates, therefore, The Council has voted to waive any finance charges resulting from late payments on the bills for these two billing cycles.
Any questions and concerns, please contact City Hall, 515-836-4751, during normal business hours.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Respectfully,
The City of Ellsworth Mayor and City Council
